How does it work?
As soon as you or a colleague update any contact in a shared group that update is pushed to all members of the group. For example when you update a shared contact in your phone all your co-workers will receive that update within seconds. Your co-worker just added a new client to his Outlook? Within seconds that new contact will also be on your phone.
