Soocial launches Outlook and Blackberry sync
Mountain View, CA. November 12, 2008 — Today, at Under the Radar conference in San Francisco, Soocial (www.soocial.com) announced support for Outlook and Blackberry. The Outlook client will be publicly available as an alpha version and can be downloaded from the website, starting today. The release of the BlackBerry client is planned within the coming month. Soocial also announced to open their service from a private invite-only beta to a public beta.
The clients for Outlook and BlackBerry were widely requested by users and are now added to the wide range of devices Soocial already supports. Synchronizing contacts from over 400 mobile phones, web mail service Gmail, CRM-tool Highrise, Mac OS X Address Book and now Outlook and BlackBerry, Soocial supports more platforms than any online sync solution service available. “We are stoked to be releasing support for Outlook and BlackBerry - this is significant to anyone looking to have a one address book solution” says Soocial CEO Stefan Fountain.
Soocial aims to deliver one address book by connecting the three main area’s where people use contacts - phones, the personal computer and online applications. Fountain continues: “We want to be the address book for the internet-as-an-operating-system. Providing an easy and safe way to sync and share your contacts.” Future plans for Soocial include widening their platform support to popular services like Windows Live, Yahoo Mail, LinkedIn and devices as the iPhone.
Soocial has also opened up their service for the first time to anyone who wants to try their service. Until now the service has been in private beta - helping Soocial test their service with their thousands of beta testers. Now anyone that wants to use the service can join - you’ll be setup within minutes.
There are many synchronization services that sync photos, calendars, notes, the kitchen sync and contacts. Soocial differentiates itself by focusing solely on contacts which enables them to provide more specific contacts-syncing features. Some examples are the automatic merging of duplicates during sync, offering powerful organization tools and providing automatic backups.
