On a day of eating candy, the average portion size was about 40 grams and about 176 kcal. According to the Oxford Academic research, candy represented 2.1% and 3.2% of Americans’ total fat and saturated fat intake. 21. Total confectionary sales during the pandemic grew 4.1%.

Research by the National Confectioners Association shows that COVID-19 boosted candy sales by 4.1%. Total confectionery sales reached $10.6 billion, and most of the revenue came from chocolate candies. In fact, $6.8 billion or nearly 65% of candy sales amid COVID-19 were chocolates, while the remaining $3.8 billion were non-chocolate candies.

Chocolate confectioneries are getting more popular faster too. Their total sales jumped by 5.5%, whereas the ones of non-chocolate candies grew by only 1.6%. Not only do Americans love candy, but they also have a specific taste for it, or so it seems.

1. In 2021, the total number of Las Vegas visitors exceeded 32 million.

The exact figure stands at 32,230,600 and notes a near 70% increase when compared to 2020 when Vegas saw a total of 19,031,100 visitors.

At a whopping 3,390,200, October is the month that recorded the most visits in 2021, followed by July with ​​3,302,400.

November and December are the two other months in which the number of visitors exceeded 3 million, at 3,112,200 and 3,004,500, respectively.

On the other side of the spectrum, January and February were the months with the least visitors, at 1,294,100 and 1,540,100, respectively.

 

2. In 2016, 42.93 million visitors visited the city of Las Vegas, an all-time record.

While there are no figures of statistical relevance for 2020, this is still an 8 percentage point drop from 2019, when a whopping 81% of visitors who came to Vegas gambled there.

The only time this figure was surpassed was a decade earlier, in 2009 when the gambling portion of visitors peaked at 83%.

 

8. In 2021, the largest demographic of Las Vegas tourists was the 30-39 group at 26%.

The 21-29 age group was the second-most-dominant one accounting for 23% of travelers, followed by those aged 40-49 at 21%. Those aged 50-59 accounted for 15% of Las Vegas visitors, followed by travelers aged 65 or over at 11%, while the least dominant age demographic were travelers aged 60-64, accounting for 4% of the total Las Vegas visitor count.

The mean age of the average traveler to Las Vegas was 42.3 in 2021, which is the lowest recorded since 2016 with a peak at 46.2 in 2019.

 

9. 24% of Las Vegas visitors in 2021 belonged in the $100k+ income group.

The most dominant income demographic was the same in 2019, even though it then accounted for 29% of the total visitor count.

At 20%, those earning $40k-$59,999 made the second-largest income demographic of visitors. The $60k-$79,999 and $80k-$99,999 income groups ranked third at 18% each, followed by those earning less than $40k at 17%.

he earliest Vegas room inventory records point to 1970 as the year with the lowest average available room inventory rate of 25,430. In the same year, however, visitor volume reached 6,787,650.

To put things into perspective, in 2016—the year which recorded the highest number of visitors—room inventory stood at 149,339, which is less than 1% below the peak in 2013. This signals that the number of accommodation facilities grows at a faster pace than the number of Las Vegas visitors.

 

16. At 81.6%, the occupancy rate in 2021 peaked in October.

This figure comes as no surprise since, as previously stated, October was the month that recorded the highest number of visitors in Las Vegas. No other month in 2021 has surpassed the 80% benchmark, and only July and November came close, with occupancy rates of 79.4% and 77.6%, respectively.

As expected when observing the total visitor count, January and February were the months with the lowest occupancy rates, at respective 31.6% and 42.0%.

 

17. The yearly average occupancy rate dropped by over 50% between 2019 and 2020.

25. The total gaming revenue in Clark County reached $11.452 billion in 2021.
